Responder Team (First Aid)

The First Responder Team consists of all grades of medical responders and has volunteers at many of the events where FMS provides medical services. The role of the First Responder varies according to the event, some examples of where First Responders work are;

  • working in static first aid points across the event site
  • working with other clinicians at FMS minor injury units or walk in centres
  • patrolling sites with other responders

The minimum requirement to join the team is a Level 3 QCF accredited First Aid at Work (FAW L3) award. This award can be provided at a subsidised cost for members who volunteer for this team.

Applications will be considered from registered clinicians or people who hold other similar qualifications and experience for example FPOS, PHTLS, IHCD Ambulance and NPLQ qualifications which exceed the minimum requirement. The Minimum age to volunteer with the team is 18 yrs. Applicants will be expected to complete and enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) application, which is available from the charity free of charge to volunteers and to provide evidence of their qualifications annually. The team operates at all hours and in all conditions.
