Dental Team:

There is an FMS dental service available for 24-hour coverage at most of the larger festivals. We have a fully equipped mobile dental unit and separate unit for sterilisation.
The service usually provides morning and afternoon clinics and an on-call service the rest of the time. Each twenty four hour period we have two dentists and DCPs available and you will agree between yourselves how the period is covered for clinics and on-call.The treatment is provided outside of an NHS contract and we ask patients for a donation equivalent to the fee they would pay for an urgent Band 1 treatment, or if they would have been exempt what they feel appropriate.

You will be working mainly with a population who are regular attenders for dental care, who have a dental emergency including infection, pain and oral trauma. The purpose of our treatment is to provide immediate care and advice that will enable them to continue to enjoy the rest of the festival. The range of treatments we offer is broadly the same as described in an NHS Band 4 course of treatment.

The dental service provides “walk-in” care throughout the day and dentists will need to provide an advice and triage service for an overnight session outside of the clinic hours.
